Anneke van Giersbergen was introduced to heavy metal by her older brother, and it immediately felt like coming home for the very young singer. In honor of metal band Metallica's 40th anniversary, Dutch TV talk show M asked Anneke if she would like to sing Nothing Else Matters accompanied by a string quartet. Arranger Ruud Peeters made a beautiful arrangement, which led to a new collaboration.

The anthems of Iron Maiden, the melodic rock of Foreigner, the hits of Guns N' Roses, the classic songs of Black Sabbath and, of course, her personal heroes Mastodon, you will hear them all in beautiful semi-classical arrangements.

Biography: Singer Anneke van Giersbergen has one of the most versatile voices of the Netherlands. Her voice is both powerful and vulnerable. She became known as the frontwoman of The Gathering but has been having a successful solo career for many years. She is a musical chameleon, which is evidenced by her collaborations with artists such as Devin Townsend, the Icelandic folk group Árstíðir, and BLØF. Furthermore, millions of people hear her voice every year in theme park the Efteling’s attraction Baron 1898.

In 2019, Anneke was awarded the Buma ROCKS! Export Award in recognition and appreciation of her international success.

In early 2021, she released her candid solo album The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest. In the autumn of 2021, Anneke participated in the popular Dutch TV show Best Singers, in which she made a big impression with her interpretations of songs. With her ode to Kate Bush, she successfully toured the Dutch theatres in 2022 and 2023. The show was awarded four stars by Dutch newspaper Trouw.
