Dilana Smith

Theater

Her stature may be petite, but as soon as singing sensation Dilana Smith (South Africa) steps into the shoes of rock legends like Tina Turner, the sisters Wilson of Heart, Janis Joplin, Cyndi Lauper, Joan Jett, Blondie, Skin, Alanis Morissette, or Adele, she is larger than life.

Between songs, in an endearing mishmash of Dutch, English and South African, she talks about remarkable parallels between her troubled life and that of her heroines.

Whatever song she is singing, she gives her all: a powerful, spirited soul and rock voice and an athletic, expressive body. She is accompanied by a band of top-notch musicians who are perfectly in sync with her singing.

Dilana is moving, seducing, and shaking up her audience. She is a magnet: by the end of the evening, everyone loves her.

Biography
Dilana Smith (born in 1972 in Johannesburg, South Africa) had her first number-one hit Dancing in the Moonlight when she was 16. She came to the Netherlands in 1996 with her band WOZANI. Here, she released her first solo album Wonderfool. In 2001, she moved to the United States. She attracted a lot of attention in TV show Rock Star Supernova, where ex-members of Mötley Crüe, Metallica and Guns N' Roses were looking for a lead singer for their new band. In 2009, she released her second album Inside out and her third album Beautiful Monster came out in 2013.

After singing a reggae version of Roxanne during The Voice of Holland in 2016, the four judges all turned their chairs. Unfortunately, she had to leave the competition early because of an illness. But fortunately, she is as fit as a fiddle now. In 2017, she moved to the Netherlands permanently.
