Wonka Podia jointly launch educational theater textbook for elementary school students

To get children in touch with culture and education in an accessible way, the Wonka Podia - an intensive collaboration between six venues in the Brainport region - are jointly releasing the first edition of the Wonka Playbook this month. This educational activity book is packed with theater and cultural education assignments and has been developed in collaboration with local cultural partners for all elementary school students (grades 1 to 8).

Development
A do-book that allows all children in the region to playfully engage in educational theater and culture assignments. That was the dream and it has now become a reality. Wonka Podia's mission is to make theater and culture as accessible as possible to everyone. In doing so, it has been proven, that art and culture make a valuable contribution to the development of children. Creative thinking brings you new ideas, creates new solutions and teaches you to set your own goals. With this activity book, the venues hope to contribute to the cultural and creative development of children in an accessible way.

30.000 cultural gifts through elementary school
The Wonka Do-book is a colorful A4 book of about 30 pages full of theatrical activities and will be given to 30.000 children from elementary school in the five Wonka municipalities: Eindhoven, Helmond, Veldhoven, Valkenswaard and Bergeijk. In cooperation with the culture coaches and intermediaries of these municipalities and with the cooperation of theater staff, each elementary school will receive a number of copies. Each municipality also has a slightly different version, each with a number of specific pages from the relevant local cultural partners.

Education Projects
In addition to this activity book, Wonka Podia is organizing other theater projects for children. For example, next fall break the Wonka Youth Theater Days will take place to introduce children to theater in an inspiring and accessible way. There is also a major project in cooperation with theater company Wildpark in the spring of 2023. Then some 10,000 elementary school children (grades 5 and 6) will be able to see the wonderful, imaginative outdoor performance "De monteur en het meisje" in their own schoolyard.
